What Happened on June 28th 1980?

In the convoluted history of UFO/alien sightings and encounters, there are so-called flaps (also called waves) and window areas, places in which apparently at certain times, days and locations there is an increased number of strange encounters, with UFOs, humanoids, etc. Why does this happen? There are many theories, like how window areas are said to be thruways in which alien craft arrive at Earth from wherever they are from, and sometimes the concentration of cases at a certain location (sometimes even a country [example: France 1954]) is overwhelming and filled with high-strangeness. These flaps or waves don’t necessarily involve the same location, but sometimes occur on the same date and in widely separate locations on the globe. Case in point, June 28, 1980:
On this date there were five very interesting encounters, spread out around the world - all of them of a very high-strangeness quality. I would like to present them in order (time) of occurrence.
The first occurred in the morning in Argentina, which did experience a wave throughout the year of 1980. It involved an encounter with a bizarre human-like entity and other assorted phenomena, perhaps connected to the main encounter. Here it is:
Location: Rafaela, Santa Fe, Argentina
Date: June 28, 1980
Time: morning
The night before (June 27th) members of the Carelli family were already in bed as a result of the intense cold temperatures. Then one of the family members, “Malvina,” heard noises coming from outside her window. She woke up Mrs Carelli and both heard what appeared to be “slow moving heavy footfalls” coming from the patio stairwell and later on the terrace area. Minutes later Malvina saw a strong light moving outside the window that shone right through the bedroom curtains. Mrs Carelli also observed the light. They did not go outside to investigate. On the morning of the 28th, Mrs Carelli was outside hanging some laundry and noticed that it was very cold. Her pet dog “Esteban” accompanied her. As she worked she noticed, about 20 meters away, a woman that was accompanied by two children. The two children, described as blond and wearing very light clothing in relation to the weather, were playing around a huge cactus plant. The woman wore a tight-fitting brown colored outfit, again kind of light for the weather. She had long blond-platinum hair and large beautiful penetrating, blue-green eyes. She approached the stranger and warned her about the dog, but the woman seemed unconcerned and said, “he will not bite us.” The witness further describes the woman as very delicate and “beautiful”, with a lean voluptuous body. Mrs Carelli then asked the woman if she was cold, but she replied in the negative.
Moments later, Mrs Carelli, a little perplexed, walked back into the kitchen; from that vantage point she no longer could see the strange woman and the children. An hour later Malvina went outside to check and saw the woman, this time breastfeeding a baby, and sitting next to the cactus while the two other children remained playing nearby. There was no obvious mode of transportation around (vehicles, etc). Malvina approached and also spoke to the woman, which looked at her with the penetrating eyes in a somewhat disdainful stare. The dog walked around the strangers, barking but did not dare approach. (The dog was later seen in the kitchen area and apparently disappeared later and was never seen in the area again). On that same morning at a nearby sports field witnesses found strange tracks on the ground resembling an isosceles triangle. Also, mysteriously, the water level from the sports pool had inexplicably and substantially decreased.

The second case occurred a few hours later in Russia, which again was experiencing a sort of mini-flap at the time of the bizarre encounter by a witness who had previously witnessed other bizarre events:
Location: Tslachtchevo, Moscow region, Russia
Date: June 28, 1980
Time: 1400
Vladimir Pavlovich Bogachev had, back in August of 1979, encountered a bizarre invisible barrier in a field near his home. Earlier on this date he had been sitting outside with his young daughter when both heard a loud helicopter like sound over the nearby trees. They did not see anything, however. Later on, as he was walking along a field near the village, he again encountered the invisible barrier and became tired and his throat became dry. He sat down in a clearing and suddenly heard a loud pitched voice in Russian, “Do you want to see girls”! it exclaimed. Looking up he saw a very tall man-like figure wearing what appeared to be a heavy monk like outfit. The figure smiled at Bogachev and he stood up. At this point the humanoid began to disappear before his eyes, first becoming vertical stripes and then completely vanishing. Moments later the humanoid reappeared again, this time wearing what appeared to be a tight-fitting shiny “spacesuit” green in color. The suit covered him completely except for his head. The stranger was heavy set with European features. He had a pointy chin and high cheekbones and what appeared to be scraggly beard. He repeated his original questions about the girls and disappeared again. In his place the witness could now see a meadow-like panorama, blue and white in color, resembling a rectangular screen. On the low cut grass there were a group of lovely girls, wearing white thin fabric like clothing and headgear. They had beautiful long black hair and were barefooted. Their skin was snow white in color and all had wonderful proportionate and voluptuous bodies. They somehow resembled Japanese girls but with European features, about 17-years of age.
One of them spoke in a melodious but incomprehensible language. The witness then heard a hissing sound and the scene vanished. A fog came over him and he seemed to lose consciousness. He soon found himself entering an object with white linoleum like walls. On a wall hung a poster, similar to a hand painted drawing; on it there was a picture of a five pointed star. To the right of the room he saw large green curtains that led to a larger room. Behind the curtains he encountered two apparatus like devices and a table in the center and what appeared to be comfortable sofas on each side. On the ceiling there was a round fixture with a bright light. In this room he saw a very tall man, about 2 meters in height, with short black hair on each side and bald on top, wearing a narrow trouser with a belt and a short sleeve striped shirt, brown in color. On the right stood another man wearing gray clothing that completely ignored the witness. The tall alien spoke to Bogachev, asking him what he feared most. The witness immediately answered, “A nuclear war”. The aliens promised to become involved in the affairs of men and to prevent a catastrophe. After promising to contact the local scientific community Bogachev was deposited back in the same field. Apparently, he did not see the aliens again. The third and perhaps the most odd encounter occurred on the coast of Puerto Rico, which was apparently what I call a “permanent abduction”.

Date: June 28, 1980
Time: 2003
At 1810 Jose Antonio Maldonado Torres and his friend, Jose Pagan Santos, took off from Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in an Ercoupe aircraft marked N3808H. The Ercoupe was owned by Santo’s father Jose Pagan Jimenez, an Aero Police officer in Puerto Rico. They were bound for home in Puerto Rico. At 2003 the Las Mesas radar site and several aircraft picked up radio transmissions from N3808H: “Mayday, Mayday, Ercoupe ocho cero, eight zero, zero, Hotel. We can see a strange object in our course. We are lost, Mayday, Mayday.” An Iberia Airlines flight IB-976 en route from Santo Domingo to Spain responded to the Mayday and received a reply:
“Ah we are going from Santo Domingo to ah San Juan International but we found ah a weird object in our course that made us change course about three different times. We got it right in front of us now at one o’clock, our heading is zero seven zero degrees…our altitude one thousand six hundred, at zero seven zero degrees…our VORs got lost off frequency…”
Iberia Flight IB-976 then relayed a message from San Juan Center asking N3808H to turn on their transponder. N3808H replied that the Ercoupe was not equipped with a transponder. At 2006 Iberia IB-976 asked for their call sing and estimated position and received this reply: “Right now we are supposed to be at about thirty five miles from the coast of Puerto Rico but we have something weird in front of us that makes us lose course all the time. I changed our course a second (unintelligible). Our present heading right now is three hundred. We are right again in the same stuff sir.” They were not heard from again. At 2012 the Atlantic Fleet Weapons Range verified the last radar position of N3808H as thirty five miles west of Puerto Rico. A search that included Santos’s father was then mounted which centered on this last radar position. It was discontinued after two days when no trace had been found. No trace was ever found.

Comments: It seems to have been a permanent abduction oddly similar to the Valentich disappearance of 1978 in Australia and the cabin cruiser “Witchcraft” off the coast of Miami in 1967. As an interesting aside, according to researcher Scott Corrales, months later Jose Antonio’s mother reportedly saw him in a vision one afternoon. He was wearing a metallic green uniform with black metal boots, and told her that he had joined the “extraterrestrials” in their mission and was quite safe and very happy with his new life.
The fourth encounter, an apparently abduction, was again from Argentina and the same province of Santa Fe. Details are brief but interesting.

The witness was walking home alone and as he passed a large empty lot he noticed an intense light descending from the sky. As he looked at the light he felt attracted to it and was lifted up inside. He then found himself sitting on a large armchair surrounded by four short humanoids in yellow outfits and helmets. The beings stared at him silently. He was found 15 hours later next to a wall of the local cemetery. Source: UFONS # 133
The last case was another abduction report from Arizona, an area filled with high-strangeness events:
Location: White Tank Mountains, Arizona
Date: June 28, 1980
Time: 2330
Three witnesses had driven to an isolated mountain area when they all apparently drifted off to sleep. The main witness later awoke in a trance to see three small men wearing helmets and diving suits surrounding their vehicle. All three witnesses then exited the car and were floated over a nearby canal and towards a silvery dome shaped craft on the ground. As they neared the craft they could see another little man standing on a rim that protruded around the bottom of the object. The little man pointed something resembling a flashlight at the main witness, then a rectangular opening became visible and all three witnesses entered the object. Inside there was a room that appeared to be the main control room filled with buttons and display screens. Five little men staffed this area. The main witness was then taken into another room filled with bright blue lights. Inside this room she met a very tall man whose face was covered with a veil with symbols on it. She was then directed to sit on an L-shaped device after removing her clothing. The tall man communicated with her and apparently performed several tests and examinations on her. The little men later returned her and the other two witnesses to the car.

So what happened on that day indeed? A tare between other dimensions? A busy day for the Cosmic Trickster? We are only left to wonder. June 28, 1980 should not be forgotten (at least within Ufological circles).
