Review by Brent Raynes

Formerly of the United Kingdom, prolific author Nick Redfern turns out one popular book after another, dealing with conspiracies, the paranormal, and unexplained mysteries. Some of his previous books have been The Alien Book, Area 51, The Bigfoot Book, NASA Conspiracies, Contactees: A History of Alien-human Interaction, There’s Something in the Woods, Time Travel, and many more. He’s appeared on more than 70 television programs like the Travel Channel’s In Search of Monsters, the BBC’s Out of This Worlds, the SyFy’s Proof Positive, and the History Channel’s Ancient Aliens and UFO Hunters. These days he churns out copy from his home office in Dallas, Texas, just a few miles from the infamous Grassy Knoll. He maintains a blog (where he can also be reached) at: http://nickredfernfortean.blogspot.com.

In his latest volume, Runaway Science, Redfern again inundates his readers with a plethora of information, culled from a wide variety of relevant, even scientific and government sources. He leaves no stone unturned, adding a helpful bibliography and an extensive index, with more than 100 photographs and illustrations. He delves deeply into the new world of science and technology, with information and concerns about the developing technologies of artificial intelligence, robots, microchip implants, cloning, and concerns and theories of things like cattle mutilations, CIA mind control programs, digital devices we carry like smartphones that can record our private conversations, locations, and a lot of sensitive personal data, deadly viruses, the development and use of military grade drones and robots.

From fiction to today’s science, and potential future developments and possible consequences down the road, Redfern explores in comprehensive depth and detail the many modern technological and scientific developments, achievements, and breakthroughs that are taking place daily, and the concerns and conspiracies that reflect the unease among many as to where this may all take us.
