Group of ufologists have strange encounter in Argentina

by: Albert S. Rosales

Location: Punta Piedras, north of Samborombon Bay, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Date: December 15, 1996
Time: midnight x 1:00 a.m.

Thirteen (13) members of the Argentine UFO group ‘FAO’, which included nine men, four women and a small dog, had gone camping at an area called “El Descanso” close to the River Platte. Something they usually did every anniversary of the founding of FAO. On the above night, the group was outside barbecuing and enjoying themselves when around midnight some of those present retired to their cabin, while several others reminded behind enjoying the beautiful starry sky. Among the group was the source of this report Luis Burgos.

At around 1:45 a.m., the little dog, “Toba,” who belonged to Daniel Lopez and his wife Maria, suddenly started barking. Moments later, Maria pointed and screamed, “Daniel, Daniel, what is that?!” Those present looked in the direction she was pointing and saw approaching from the coast, at very slow speed, a small very luminous greenish object, which had apparently emerged from the water. The bright green light then stopped to hover about 40m from the ground under a large tree. As those present approached, one of the men pointed his powerful flashlight at the strange light. Immediately, Burgos told him to shut it off since there was ‘someone’ standing under the light. To their great surprise, the person standing under the object was a member of the group, a man named Alcides, who stood mesmerized under the light with an outstretched hand towards it. When the others approached Alcides, he told them that he had almost touched the hovering light.

At that moment the object or light flew back toward the river Platte (where it had come from). Everybody was stunned to have seen Alcides standing under the tree, as moments before, according to Burgos, he had been sleeping soundly next to him, when the alarm of the approaching object sounded. No one saw him get up or run towards the tree. And no one, including Alcides could explain how he had managed to be standing under the tree before the others arrived.

Tragically, in the summer of 1998, Alcides, and his 10-year-old son, drowned during a fishing expedition in the same waters where the object had been seen to originate from.
